An independent medical examination (IME) is a medical assessment performed by a specialist physician who is previously unknown to a worker. An IME is typically requested by the case manager and can assist in a workers injury rehabilitation and return to work.
CHG's specialist physicians provide independent expert opinion assessments for return to work, medico-legal and motor vehicle accident claims.
CHG has an experienced team of occupational, pain and rehabilitation physicians who examine injured workers and provide independent advice regarding their health status or work injury. Our specialist physicians provide independent expert opinion assessments within the wider context of the psychosocial, occupational and industrial frameworks. An independent medical examination (IME) can be performed in isolation or as part of an interdisciplinary evaluation depending on the requirement. IME’s can include assessment of:
- occupational medical issues
- functional capacity, and
- activities of daily living
