A medical assessment is an assessment of your overall health performed by a medical practitioner. It is common to have a medical assessment prior to or periodically during your employment.
Medical assessments as part of a pre-employment assessment are undertaken to help potential employers identify any health issues which may affect a person’s ability to safely perform the job for which they are being considered.
All medical assessments involve a detailed examination of occupational history and medical history, as well as a multi-system examination of the musculo-skeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
The content of the medical assessment can be tailored to your requirements. Common additional tests performed alongside medical assessments include:
- drug and alcohol screening
- audiometry
- spriometry
- functional capacity evaluation (FCE)
- psychological screening
- diagnostic procedures
- ECG
- vision screening
CHG can also perform specialty and industry licensing medicals including:
- category 1, 2 and 3 medicals for rail industry
- aviation licenses
- commercial driver’s licences
- special equipment licences (including forklift drivers, crane operators, scaffolders and riggers)
- confined space medicals
Following the assessment, you will be supplied with a report detailing the candidate’s medical history, clinical examination findings and whether any work restrictions or limitations need to apply cognisant of the job for which they are applying.
CHG’s pre-employment medical assessment is conducted by experienced medical practitioners and available at any of our three clinics – Mile End, Gillman and Elizabeth Vale, or at other locations by arrangement.
